How Many Calories Should I Eat?

There are MANY factors that influence your metabolism – and you have the ability to modify them! By increasing your metabolism, you’re giving your body the boost it needs to burn extra calories and accelerate fat burning 🔥

So what can you do to increase your metabolism and speed up the fat burning process? Here are my top 5 tips! 

Drink more water
Did you know that every time you drink 500mL of water, your metabolic rate increases by up to 30%? And if you’re even mildly dehydrated, your metabolism slows down? Seriously, do not ever underestimate the importance of drinking water when it comes to fat loss, babes!

Water boosts metabolism by stimulating what’s called ‘water induced thermogenesis’. This increases metabolism and as a result, increases energy expenditure! Water is also needed to convert stored fat into energy to be used. 

Babes, you need to be drinking MINIMUM 2L (67 oz) of water daily. I’d say even aim closer to 3 liters (100 oz) per day. Keep a water bottle on you at all times and remember to keep drinking throughout the day!

Prioritize sleep
Whilst sleep itself does not boost metabolism, NOT getting enough sleep SLOWS DOWN your metabolism!

Research shows that regularly getting less than 7 hours of sleep each night negatively affects metabolism by altering hormonal regulation of key hormones that influence metabolism.

Regulation of hormones such as leptin and insulin make metabolizing carbohydrates and fats more difficult – resulting in a harder time losing fat. 

So babes, if you’re serious about fat loss, aim to get at least 8 hours of good quality sleep per night!

Eat regular meals
Many people who are trying to lose fat fall into the temptation of skipping meals – but babes, this is the opposite of what you should do, in fact, it’s actually counterproductive! When you eat is JUST as important as what you eat! 

Having an erratic eating schedule such as regularly skipping meals, disrupts your metabolism. In order to burn energy, you need to be regularly giving your body food to metabolize! If not, your metabolism can become sluggish and do its job less effectively.

The solution? Aim to have a meal or snack every 3 hours or so to keep your hormones balanced and metabolism on fire!
