How I Got Shredded Eating Waffles

Have your cake and eat it too with my NO BS SHRED RECIPES E-BOOK

Girl, I know - there’s a world of information online and things can get pretty confusing when it comes to diet and nutrition. Particularly when it comes to MASTERING SHRED LYF. It seems like every week there’s a new miracle diet out there that claims it will give you instant results, make your hair shiny, get him to text you back, and solve all of your problems. I’m here to give you babes the NO BS truth on how to get the most out of your nutrition for FAT LOSS.

When I first started my health and fitness journey, I thought that eating a “clean” diet was what I needed to do to get shredded. I was in a cycle of restricting myself daily and holding out for my weekly cheat meal. Oh, how times have changed! Thankfully, the days of eating boring AF chicken and broccoli are over. You don’t need to feel deprived to be in a calorie deficit and lose fat.

Is butter a carb?

Flexible dieting has given me the power to make room for the things I love, every day. My #LSFbabes know that I am on a mission to create macro-friendly versions of your favourite meals. If only someone could have told me all those years ago that I could eat brownies and waffles whilst getting a six pack! I want to fill the gaps in knowledge that I had when I first started out, so you babes can get results that last!

So, how important is nutrition for fat loss?

Despite the abundance of information out there, when it comes to fat loss - the principles are actually relatively simple. Energy balance is key, that is; your calories in vs. calories out. Increasing your movement (exercise, NEAT) will, of course, increase your energy output. However, the bottom line is: you can’t out-train a poor diet. Not even burpees can save you here, girls!

Creating a safe calorie deficit that is 10-20% below your maintenance level of calories is ideal, as we want to try and drop fat on as many calories as possible. Bringing them too low, too quickly, will decrease your chances of compliance.

How to create the perfect diet for fat loss
The best diet for fat loss is one that is full of what YOU enjoy eating. You don’t need to feel deprived and miss out on enjoying all the wonderful things in life - you CAN have your cake and eat it too. When I am in shred mode, I focus on these key elements to create my perfect shred diet –

Protein: Choose 2-3 main protein sources a week that you enjoy eating and are easy to prepare. Make sure you are enough protein in to facilitate muscle growth/repair, and also increase your satiety (fullness) levels.

Fibre: Load up your meals with vegetables! Fibre keeps us healthy from the inside out and also increases our satiety levels, which is of course ideal when in a calorie deficit.

Be consistent: Plan your meals out for the week ahead (treats included). My LSF app takes all the hard work out of this for you! Plan your meals and download your weekly shopping list here!
